Our network of diaspora professionals, and friends, helps agents of change in Puerto Rico who want to increase their impact.
In 2014, a group of Puerto Rican diaspora professionals in the Washington DC area decided to channel their concerns with the economic crisis in Puerto Rico into action. The first meetings were salon-style sessions around a shared meal or ‘cena’ that members still gather for once a month. These ‘cenas’ gave the group its name and they are where project ideas and collaborations are born. Today there are over 75 Cenadores members who volunteer their expertise, networks and time for Puerto Rico. Among our achievements, we have successfully partnered with civil society organizations to secure grants, improve strategic goal setting, nominate rising stars for leadership programs, get out the diaspora vote and launch a financial literacy pilot project.
Harness the connections and technical expertise of the Puerto Rican diaspora, and friends of the diaspora, to empower civil society.
Cenadores believe the Puerto Rican diaspora network, and friends of the diaspora, have the cross-sector connections, technical expertise and passion for Puerto Rico needed to strengthen civil society on the island.
What is Cenadores?
Cenadores PR is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that harnesses the cross-sector connections, technical expertise and passion for Puerto Rico in the diaspora to strengthen civil society on the island. ‘Cenadores’ members meet once a month in salon-style ‘cenas’ to break bread, share ideas, and collaborate on projects.
